Illuminate Art & Light Festival
This projection, performance, and interactive-installation event brought together over 80 artists, students, and community-members from both Waterloo and Cedar Falls to showcase individual and collaborative projects. Though these two cities share a metro area, many participating students had never been to Waterloo and Waterloo artists had never shown their work in Cedar Falls. In the six months leading up to the festival students in the Interactive Digital Studies Practicum coordinated partnerships to intertwine these communities and provide support. For example, three artists were invited as artists-in-residence at UNI and received free, interactive-media workshops led by UNI computer science students to produce projects for the festival.
This project received monetary support from the Veridian Fellowship for Public Engagement.
